Frequently Asked Questions

  • Stem cells are the body's natural repair system. They can both duplicate themselves and transform into different types of cells, helping to heal tissues and organs. One common type is adult stem cells, which are found in fat (adipose tissue), bone marrow, and umbilical tissue.

  • Health Span Clinics specializes in using adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), which are collected from a person’s fat tissue. Fat is an abundant and reliable source of stem cells that are easier to obtain and more potent than those from bone marrow.

    • The process is minimally invasive, performed under local anesthesia.

    • Fat-derived stem cells maintain a younger cellular age and regenerate faster than bone marrow stem cells.

    • ADSCs are widely used in orthopedics, autoimmune diseases, and anti-aging therapies.

  • Regenerative medicine stimulates the body's natural ability to heal. It helps repair damaged tissues, reverse degenerative diseases, and improve organ function. This field goes beyond traditional medicine by promoting self-healing through advanced therapies like stem cell treatments, growth factors, and exosomes (small cell messengers that trigger regeneration).

  • Stem cells remain inactive until they detect an injury or inflammation signal. When activated, they either:

    1. Migrate to damaged areas and stimulate repair.

    2. Transform into needed cell types to rebuild tissue.

    3. Secrete growth factors and exosomes that guide healing.

    4. Transfer healthy mitochondria (cell energy sources) to aging or damaged cells, restoring function.

  • No, but Health Span Clinics follows FDA guidelines that allow physicians to use a patient’s own stem cells under the “same surgical procedure” rule. This means the cells are not significantly altered and are reinjected into the patient on the same day.

  • Umbilical stem cells may be slightly younger, but they do not match your DNA. Using your own cells eliminates the risks of immune rejection or disease transmission, making autologous (self-derived) stem cells a safer option.

  • No. Adult mesenchymal stem cells do not cause cancer. Some concerns stem from embryonic stem cells, which can form teratomas (tumors)—but these are not used at Health Span Clinics.

  • Health Span Clinics uses a sophisticated database to follow all our outcomes and any adverse events. We follow the same safety protocols and technologies developed by California Stem Cell Center with extraordinary results since they’ve started treating patients in 2010.

  • For precision, Health Span Clinics uses ultrasound to guide stem cell injections into targeted areas, especially for orthopedic conditions.

In addition, systemic IV infusions offer a powerful complement to localized adipose-derived stem cell therapy by delivering regenerative signals throughout the body, promoting widespread anti-inflammatory effects, immune modulation, and tissue repair.

  • Healing from stem cell and regenerative therapies can vary significantly depending on the individual, the condition being treated, the delivery method, and the specific therapy used.

Orthopedic patients (e.g., joint pain, arthritis) may take several months. while other conditions may respond faster due to stronger cellular activity.

Some patients may notice improvements shortly after treatment, such as reduced inflammation or pain relief. However, the full regenerative effects of stem cells may take time to develop, as they can remain active in the body and continue supporting tissue repair and healing for up to a year or more.

  • Only certain medical issues are currently being treated at Health Span Clinics. Patients must be medically stable and have a condition treatable under existing clinical protocols. To find out if you are eligible, please complete a Candidate Application or schedule a Consultation via our Contact Us page. Some patients may not have conditions appropriate to treat or may not be covered by our specialists or our protocols. In those cases, a referral may be suggested.

  • Many of the therapies we offer at Health Span Clinics are designed to be done weekly for 5-6 weeks. Some of these therapies include Laser, Acoustic Wave Therapy, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). The length of the therapies, however, may depend on your needs. Certain degenerative conditions, particularly autoimmune disease or neurodegenerative disorders, may respond best to multiple sessions for optimal results. When referring to orthopedic patients, only one treatment may be required.

    • Consultations are free for eligible patients.

    • Stem cell treatments are not covered by insurance since they are still classified as investigational.

    • Costs depend on the condition and required procedures.

Health Span Clinics offers an affordable, high-quality regenerative therapies compared to overseas clinics.
